Lived experience opportunities

There are several opportunities for students with lived experience of sexual violence and abuse or domestic violence and abuse to be involved in groups that; feedback on provisions of local support services, research and criminal processes.

VOICES

VOICES stands for Valuing Our Individual Communities Experience and Skills. This group involves a group of survivors ( or a representative of a group) of sexual violence and abuse who live in the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland area. This was set up in 2022 to support the work of a partnership of agencies called Response to Sexual Violence (R2SV), which includes; the police, Crown Prosecution Service and community agencies who support survivors.

VOICES aims to hear from survivors and represent their views on shaping the services delivered in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland area. Anyone can experience sexual violence, and this means that our experiences can be different from others. VOICES seeks to highlight these differences in views and opinions to help shape and strengthen how the R2SV partnership works to support survivors.

If you want to be involved, please email VOICES@victimfirst.org and let them know your contact details. A representative from the R2SV partnership will contact you to talk further about being in the group and you can ask any questions you may have. Also, Standing Together can support you in attending this, so if you do have any concerns or questions please email ld279@leicester.ac.uk

Sparkle Lived Experience Network

The Sparkle Lived Experience Network offers survivors the opportunity to get involved and have their say on changes to the way sexual violence services support those who need help. The network supports projects in the consulting arm, offering both ad hoc and ongoing opportunities to give feedback and share your expertise.

Within the network, there are opportunities for both lived experiences with sexual violence and domestic violence.
