If you have been a victim of fraud we would encourage you to report the fraud to Action Fraud, who are the National Reporting Centre for Fraud and cyber-crime. On their website, they have information on types of fraud, prevention resources and advice. 

If you require support for the fraud, we would encourage you to access the local victim support service – Victim First, who can provide; free, confidential emotional and practical support. They can be contacted via their helpline or the webchat option on their website. Victim First have clinic days on campus and these can be booked via the Student Union. 

We would also encourage you to report the incident to your bank if the incident involved money being transferred from/out your account. Your bank may be able to assist in not only the protection and prevention of further fraudulent activity, but may be able to assist in the recovery of money lost. 

If you feel your safety is an immediate risk or feel a crime has occurred, we would encourage you to contact the police on 999 – in an emergency or 101 – non emergency number, to seek guidance from them.

As per the Senate Regulations 11, if there is a report of fraud, deception or dishonesty, you could be investigated by the Student Conduct Team.
